Synopsis: In an isolated mountain resort, a group of teenagers faces their worst nightmare. Clementine and Lara, two survivors, are caught in a deadly game orchestrated by a masked figure known as “The Jester.” With their friends scattered and a psychopath chasing them, they must navigate the freezing terrain and their own fears to send a distress signal before it’s too late. As they race against time, paranoia and tension mount, leading to a chilling climax at the fire lookout.
The narrative is structured around escalating suspense, with the central antagonist—The Jester—slowly introduced through fragmented visuals and indirect references, allowing for a gradual build-up of horror. The banter and dynamic between the two protagonists, Clementine and Lara, contrast the grim stakes of their situation, adding depth and humanity to the unfolding horror.
By the Red Hill is a tightly wound thriller that blends elements of psychological horror and survival drama. The screenplay follows the characters through a snow-covered landscape, exploring themes of fear, trust, and resilience in the face of an unseen enemy. The film’s atmosphere draws heavily on environmental isolation and claustrophobia, using confined settings like an abandoned cable car station and a fire lookout to heighten the tension.
